Nori at Midnight

November 02, 2018

Happy Samhain!  To celebrate moving into the darker season I’ve created two mysteriously deep hues. Islington, SW Bluefaced Leicester Silk, Nori is a deep, deep green that is almost black. Like the dried seaweed wrap that contains delicious parcels of sushi goodness, this hue shimmers with nuances of greens, browns blues and blacks.

Cradling the Nori skein above is a warm bed of Baskerville Dark, Gotland/ Exmoor Blueface/ Silk,in Midnight, an inky true black. This Gotland-rich version of Baskerville inverts the finest dark grey British Gotland and light, fluffy Exmoor Blueface of the original blend, creating a darker, denser version of Baskerville with the same subtle silk glow and insulating warmth.

I’ve added fingering  Beyul, baby Yak/ silk/ ethically farmed Merino, in autumnal Auburn to the shop as well, which pairs beautifully with Nori and Midnight for a 2 colour project like Brioche on the Beach by Renée Callahan (see below).

Restocked this week are Islington Kelp and Siren Call, shown above with new Kelp. The latter can be found in both fingering and DK.

The ultra bright Persimmon and Padparadscha have also been restocked for a little bit of uplifting colour going into the winter months. These will zing beautifully with Kelp and Nori for a dramatic 3 colour shawl like Teroldego by Caitlin Hunter, which I’ve got in my queue. (see below for more pattern suggestions).

All in in shop now for your making pleasure!
